The food choices in Bateau Bay are endless. Whether you are moving here, visiting or even just passing through you will find something for all tastes and appetites. Having lived and worked in Bateau Bay for many years I’ve tried and tested many a local venue. Here are just some of my recommendations.

Delicious Café’s in Bateau Bay

Café Mocha

When it comes to the best Bateau Bay Food Cafés you can’t go past the local institution that is Café Mocha. With a focus on fresh seasonal ingredients, a vegan section and the ability make many of their options gluten free, the menu at Café Mocha Bateau Bay really does have something for everyone. Highlights include their slight twist on the classic Salmon Eggs Benny served with picked onion, capers, fresh herbs and salsa verde for Breakfast, or the Chef’s signature Asian style salad with sticky glazed pork belly at lunch.

Bateau Beach Café

Corn Fritters Bateau Bay Food Cafe

Bateau Beach Café Corn Fritters

For the locals who remember Pordella’s we now have the Bateau Beach Café serving delicious breakfasts and lunches with friendly staff in a great location just near the entrance to Blue Lagoon Beach Resort.

I’d suggest you try the corn fritters, the bacon and egg rolls, or just the coffee. Whatever you try you can know that it will be served quickly and leave you satisfied!

Bateau Bay Square

If you are out for some general shopping or just trying to please everyone in the family, you might just step into the food court at Bateau Bay square. Here you will find the usual food court offerings from the Coffee Club Bateau Bay at one end (just near the library) and a variety of the usual suspects inside, including McDonalds, KFC, Sushi Hub, Boost Juice and a range of fish n chips, noodles, grill and café to suit everyone’s taste and budget. If you’re after snacks and drinks to take with you in the car, Coles and Woolworths are also in Bateau Bay Square.

Bateau Bay Pizza

We are spoilt when it comes to Pizza in Bateau Bay because Bruce’s Ozzie Pizza Menu is the best on the NSW Central Coast! My personal favourite, which they wholeheartedly support, is the vegetarian with ham! Yep, all the veg, with a little of the fun. Bruce’s Ozzie Pizza has resisted the internet for a long time, and has no website, but is now on Facebook if you want to check them out from afar. But really, if you want to try the unique Vegetarian Pizza with Ham, you best go in! You’ll find Bruce and his son Jason six nights a week (closed on Mondays) at Bruce’s Ozzie Pizza at 2/213 Bateau Bay Rd, Bateau Bay NSW 2261.

HINT: If you enjoy your pizza with a nice bottle of wine, or an ice cold beer at the end of the day, Liquor Stax Bottle Shop is practically next door while you wait for your pizza to be cooked fresh.

Central Coast Clubs & Pubs

Bateau Bay Hotel

Clubs and pubs fans, we have you covered too with several great options here in Bateau Bay.

Parents, I know an outdoor seating area with a kids playground can make mealtime much more relaxing. If this is you, try the Bateau Bay Hotel. With both a playground and an outdoor seating area this is a fabulous option on a long summer evening.

It stands its own for a Winter lunch too with $15 specials including things like Char Grilled 250g rump with chips and salad or Mushroom risotto with sautéed mushrooms, steamed asparagus, rocket, basil and Parmesan!

Another great local option is The Entrance Leagues Club. As the self-proclaimed club of good sports, The Entrance Leagues Club broadcasts a lot of great matches but they have some fabulous non sport ticketed entertainment shows to enjoy while you are visiting too – check them out here.

The club also has kids play equipment, undercover and enclosed with the only opening into the restaurant so parents can sit close and know they will go past you before they get out.

NOTE: The Entrance Leagues Club is located at Bateau Bay not The Entrance. If you get to the Entrance you’ve gone not one but three suburbs too far. Call it a local quirk. Google has it in the right place if you look for it by name, and if you find it, you’ll really feel like a local!

Bateau Bay Bowling Club has an new restaurant open now and they offer a wide range of Italian, Western & Malaysian favourites. Check out their website and join them for a range of Bingo or Bowls activities while you are there.

As you can see, there really is something for everyone to eat at Bateau Bay. Parents, foodies, caffeine fiends, sports fans and everyone in between, I look forward to bumping into you at one of our fabulous cafes and restaurants here in Bateau Bay.

See you at Bateau Bay for a meal soon. Speaking off food, I’ve worked up an appetite so I’m off to grab some lunch. Now, where to go…………………………….

If you are looking for something more formal and al la carte there are several great choices just fifteen minutes down the road at Terrigal including, The Cowrie with an impressive cocktail and wine list, Reef with stunning waterfront views and elegant space designed for weddings and special events and L’isle de France, self proclaimed fine French food by the sea.
